Since 2018, she has been an anchor and breaking news reporter with WCTV in Tallahassee, Fla.

Viewers have enjoyed watching her co-anchor alongside her husband, Ben, at 4 p.m. on weekdays. The hour-long personality-driven newscast quickly garnered a following and, after its debut in Fall of 2018, catapulted to the top-rated show at that hour beating out The Ellen Show and all other programming.

Katie came to Florida’s capital city after two years as the weekend anchor/reporter/MMJ at KESQ in Palm Springs, California. Prior to that, she spent two years as the main evening anchor/producer at KFBB in Great Falls, Montana.

Katie is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, but her passion for broadcasting began long before she made a name for herself on campus.

As a young child, Katie can remember watching investigative news reports and red carpet events alongside her mother, who once dabbled in the business. Katie remembers mimicking the hosts on television and would even get dressed up for the Oscars by wearing her older sister's prom dresses. As she got a bit older, Katie would pretend to host cooking shows in her kitchen.

In high school, Katie anchored the televised morning announcements.

In college, she worked two jobs to pay for tuition and books. The little free time she had was spent getting involved on-campus. Katie would sometimes sleep in her car to make it all possible.

Katie eventually became president of the campus journalism society (SPJ), was a contributor to the school newspaper, and a founding member of the CSUF show ‘Titan Sports Recap.’

Katie was also chosen for a unique fellowship in Vietnam, where she reported a medical mission. Her work as a one-man-band created an award-winning documentary.

As a college senior, Katie was distinguished with the 2011 CSUF Professional Promise Award. She was nominated by the faculty as the graduating student with the most professional promise out of more than 1,200 students.

Katie was also the recipient of the SPJ Mark of Excellence Award, the Jerry Dunphy Memorial Scholarship during the 61st Annual Golden Mike Awards in Los Angeles, and was a member of the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society.

With the help of scholarships, she was able to study in Florence, Italy.

In 2011, Katie interned at Entertainment Tonight in Studio City, Ca. Her reports were published online, including her coverage of the Royal Polo Tournament in Santa Barbara, which was the most-viewed story of the day.

Katie has also worked under contract for several online media outlets, such as IdeateTV, the Freshies websites, and Vogue Wigs.

Katie enjoys being involved in the community and has volunteered for Relay For Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Special Olympics.

Katie is passionate about mental health issues and veterans affairs. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, organizing her home and visiting family.
